How the count works

On any day, look back over the 180 days up to and including that day. Add up the days you were in the Schengen area. If the total is 90 or less, you are within the rule. Days fall out of the window 180 days after they happened, which is why the number of days you have left changes as time passes. More in our 90/180 rule guide.

Your trips stay in your browser only; nothing is sent to us.

Frequently asked questions

How does the 90/180 rule work?

On any day, count the days you spent in the Schengen area in the 180 days up to and including that day. The total must not exceed 90. Arrival and departure days both count.

Do days in Spain and France count together?

Yes. All Schengen countries share one 90-day allowance.

Is this calculator official?

No. It follows the same counting method as the European Commission’s short-stay calculator, but border guards have the final word. When in doubt, use the official tool too.
