Tipping in Spain is modest and never compulsory. Service is included in prices, and waiters are paid a salary.

Bars and cafés

Leave the small change or round up. Nobody expects a tip for a coffee or a beer.

Restaurants

For a good meal, leaving about 5% to 10% is generous by Spanish standards. Many locals leave a few euros or nothing at a casual lunch. Some card terminals now offer a tip option; you can skip it.

Taxis

Round up to the nearest euro or two.

Hotels

A euro or two for porters; a small tip for housekeeping is appreciated but not expected.

Tours

Free walking tours run on tips: €10 or so per person is common.
