Palma de Mallorca

A real city on an island: Gothic cathedral on the seafront, old-town courtyards, beaches nearby, international schools and a large German and British community.

Palma is the capital of the Balearics and the only true city on the islands. La Seu cathedral rises over the bay, and the old town behind it is full of patios and design shops.

It works all year, unlike many island resorts, but housing is expensive and in short supply.

Climate: Hot summers, mild winters, sunny most of the year.
